Attention all MK BMX Racing Club members

The statement below was issued on January 11th by the Chairman of the MK BMX Club – all members are urged to ensure their views are made known to ensure a full and open process is followed. It should be noted that the BMX East Committee were first made aware of these plans by the Midlands region on January 9th and will be discussing this at the next Regional Committee meeting on January 23rd – all clubs are requested to ensure they are represented.

An MK BMX Racing Club open committee meeting on the 13th December 2016 heard arguments for and against the club’s continued affiliation with East Anglia BMX racing league. The committee received unanimous support to explore a possible change of affiliation to the Midlands BMX racing league.

A delegation was sent to the Midlands racing league’s AGM on 10th January 2017 and a majority vote of the clubs in attendance ruled in favour of the MK BMX Racing Club joining the league.
The committee of MK BMX Racing Club will conduct a referendum of its membership to determine if the wishes of the committee are shared by the membership of the club. If, (by simple majority) they are, then the club will cease it affiliation with East Anglia BMX Racing league and commence a new affiliation with the Midlands BMX racing league on the 1st of April 2017.
The referendum will run for a period of 21 days from the 14th January.

Dan Harris
