Winter Series

The 2019-2020 Series is open to all riders – a British Cycling Licence is not required. The events are British Cycling Regional “C” ranking status for qualifying age categories.

A riders “Race age” for this series is based on 2020.  E.g. Rider born 2010 will register in the 10 year class.

For this series the race format is the normal 3 motos and A/B/C finals as required and follows normal BMX East Region rules.

Riders qualified for a series award (by having competed in the required number of rounds) will be ranked higher than riders who may still qualify for a series award who in turn will be ranked higher than riders who can’t qualify for the series award.

Race fees 

On Line via the British Cycling Event system is only £12.50 inc. admin fee

On the day the fee per class is £20.

Parking is £2.00

Awards, Standings and Qualification

All rounds count towards Series Standing points

Series Trophies will be awarded to riders who compete in 3 or more rounds.

Series points are awarded for motos and A, B, C, etc. Finals and bonus points are awarded for qualifying quarter and semi-finals and a smaller bonus based on the number of riders in the class.

The Combined 17+ is payback with top three riders taking awards. The prize fund is split 50% to 1st, 30% to 2nd and 20% to 3rd.

Race Classes


7 under, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17-29, Masters (30+) and Veteran (40+)

Riders in the 16 year category can apply to ride up into the 17+.  Any applications must be made in writing (email) to the Committee /Regional Coach.

On race day the classes may be merged as follows:

9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17+


8 and Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16+

On race day the classes may be merged as follows:

Female – 9-12, 13-15, 16+

Female riders can elect to ride in a male class of the same age.

Cruiser – mixed category

16 and Under, 17+

Younger cruisers can apply to ride up into the 17+.  Any applications must be made in writing (email) to the Committee /Regional Coach.

Class merging may also apply to other classes on the day – Race Administrations decision based on number of riders entered..


All Pre-Registered must sign against their name on the Rider List before close of registration. Riders who have not signed in will be removed from the event – no refunds will be given.

Check the moto sheets carefully – errors must be reported to Administration no later than 11.30 p.m.

Except for the 6&Under Male / Female riders no parents are allowed in the pens or on the start hill.

Only First Aid and Race Officials are allowed within the track area. Parents / Guardians of riders may be invited onto the track to assist fallen riders at the discretion of the officials.

Please remember – it is rider’s responsibility to be ready for their race! Make sure you are the back of the Start Hill in time for you race to be called.

The Regional Committee may introduce supplementary regulations at any time during the Series if it is felt beneficial to the sport.

On all racing rules, incidents or disputes, the Chief Referee’s decision is final.
